Firstly, a BIG thank to you – Waterkloof resident! Without your commitment, participation and contribution our bold, but critical initiative of creating a safe and secure Waterkloof for all of us, cannot succeed. We are grwoing more positive day by day.
The first public meeting was held on Monday 31st July 2017 at Waterkloof Primary School and the community came out in an impressive show of numbers (approximately 450 people). If you were there or not, the presentation can be downloaded from the Safe Waterkloof website here. NB If you were unable to attend, a second meeting will be held on Monday 14th August 2017 at the Stella NG Kerk /Church in Olivier street, Waterkloof (details here) and everyone is welcome for the first or even second time.
Even as you read this, time is running out…We have until the 1st October 2017 to obtain a 70% representation of the approximately 1300 homes (including Stella), in the identified Waterkloof Monitored Access area, by means of a R2100 deposit into a trust account so that Phase 2 of the project can commence (process info)
The reality is that both Brooklyn and Groenkloof will be closed off areas in the very near future, leaving Waterkloof as the only open, vulnerable and logical target for criminals. It is therefore critical that you sign up as soon as possible by following the steps on the website here In the unlikely event that the initiative doesn’t go ahead as planned, 90% of your deposit will be refunded to you (10% - R210 being kept for admin and bank charges by the appointed attorneys - Paxton). If a household cannot afford a lump sum payment, payment arrangements can be made.
In the coming days, Street Captain volunteers will be knocking on your door and buzzing your intercoms to obtain registration information from you, answering any questions which you may have and rallying the neighbourhood into action. A few minutes of your time and your valued co-operation is all that is required. If your block doesn’t have a Street Captain, why not become one by sending your information to contact@safewaterkloof.co.za and start meeting your neighbours – All help is appreciated.
The website, http://www.safewaterkloof.co.za, has a wealth of information available. If you have a question which cannot be answered, or would like to update your contact details, please send an e-mail to contact@safewaterkloof.co.za or contact your relevant Street Captain - listed here
When making a payment, it is very important to use your unique reference number which can be found at here
Cost estimates have also been updated on the website available here. The more homes that sign up for the project, the more cost effective it becomes. Even if you are not the homeowner and only renting, you can sign up to be part of the initiative.
In closing, we need each and every neighbour’s assistance and as many volunteers as possible and to spread the word – Together we can make a difference by guaranteeing a crime-free, clean and vibrant Waterkloof for everyone.
